Antonio Caruso is singing praises for Eduard Folayang before they lock horns inside the cage.
The pair of lightweights is scheduled to collide on the undercard of ONE: Inside the Matrix on October 30 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Caruso, a multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion, believes that a win over the former ONE lightweight world champion from Baguio City would be his first step towards building a lasting legacy.
“I want to achieve everything Eduard has achieved. He’s a legend in this division, he’s a legend of this sport and he’s a legend of his country,” said Caruso.
“That’s exactly what I wanna do. To do that you got to beat a legend and I’m coming in the 30th to become the legend just like he is and make way for a new challenger in the lightweight division.”
Caruso holds a mixed martial arts record of 7-1 with his lone defeat coming at the hands of Folayang’s conqueror Pieter Buist.
Capable of ending a fight on his feet or the mat, Caruso is planning to display all the weapons in his arsenal come fight night.
“A quick fight is a good fight, the quicker we can get in and out, the better but at the end of the day we’d have to go in there, and hey, Eduard’s a tough guy,” he noted.
And while he would love to end the fight as fast as possible, Caruso is well aware that he Folayang would be his toughest foe to date so he is prepared to go the distance.
“He’s a legend for a reason, he’s been around a long time for a reason,” he quipped.
“I’d like to take him out as quick as possible but at the same time I’m ready to go the full distance with him and so be it. It’s worth the wait come October 30.” – RC, GMA News
