President Rodrigo Duterte is not sick and is just resting, Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said Thursday.
Dela Rosa admitted that he was surprised when Duterte called him Wednesday night to ask him to attend an event on his behalf.
“Nagulat ako tinawagan niya ako kagabi, I thought he was sick. Siya ang speaker, ako ang pinapunta niya doon, pinapadeliver ng kanyang speech,” he said in a roundtable discussion with Manila Bulletin which was aired live on Facebook.
He said there is nothing in the President’s voice that would make him suspect that the latter is ill.
“Ok naman siya. Iba ang boses niya pag tatawag na may problema o kaya matamlay siya, o may sakit, maramdaman ko ‘yun,” he said.
He added that they had a lively talk.
“Kagabi very lively yung usapan namin, nangungumusta lang.
Questions on Duterte’s condition emerged after he failed to attend the Independence Day program at Rizal Park on Monday. He has not been seen in public since then.
