Senator Panfilo Lacson is proposing to make public the bicameral conference committee meetings on the proposed P3.757-trillion national budget for 2019.
“May proposal ako to make public bicam,” Lacson said in an interview on dwIZ.
On Wednesday, the Senate closed the period of interpellation for the P3.7-trillion proposed budget. It will resume with the period of amendments on Monday and approve it on second and third reading on the same day.
After the approval on third reading, the Senate and House of Representatives will convene the bicameral conference committee to reconcile the disagreeing provisions between the two versions of the bill.
“Dun sa bicam photo opp, then small group bicam, sila lang usap, sana maging makatotohanan, pag may amendment, sino nag amendment,” Lacson said.
The senator also wanted the media to cover the bicam meetings to make the proceedings transparent.
“Prep, authorization dapat transparent all the way hanggang maratify at mapirmahan ng Pangulo,” Lacson said.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III earlier said that he expects the budget to be ready for President Rodrigo Duterte’s signature before January ends. — Ted Cordero/MDM, GMA News
