Pacquiao starts closed door training for Horn fight

Manny Pacquiao has moved on to closed door training as his fight against Australian boxer Jeff Horn draws near to avoid distractions from fans constantly streaming in the gym to watch the boxer train.

In a report by Mav Gonzales on Balitanghali on Tuesday, Pacman Wildcard Gym was seen covered up and its security ramped up to only allow members of Team Pacquiao, his family, and select media to enter the facility.

Coach Buboy Fernandez explained that they have to exercise crowd control now as the public in General Santos City unavoidably insist on watching Pacquiao train and ask for pictures.

“Medyo kino-control natin yung mga tao kasi hindi maiwasan na maraming magpa-picture, gusto makapanood ng training kaya mula sa araw na ito, inistriktuhan na namin yung training,” Fernandez said.

“Excuse muna sila, yung mga kaibigan natin na gusto makita yung fighting senator natin. Sana maintindihan nila,” he added.

During his training session at the gym, Pacquiao underwent sparring and mitts while he jogged and did core exercises at Acharon Sports Complex with Team Pacquiao.

Pacquiao in May said he was 70 to 80 percent conditioned for his bout against Horn at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Rie Takumi/KG, GMA News
