The 12 pool members of the Philippine national men’s basketball team now finally know their newest mother clubs after results of the special Gilas Pilipinas draft were announced right before the 2016 PBA Rookie Draft proper on Sunday.

The highly touted Mac Belo of Far Eastern University was nabbed by the Blackwater Elite who are hoping to turn things around after a disappointing season.

Newly crowned Governors’ Cup champions Barangay Ginebra San Miguel added depth to their roster after landing Kevin Ferrer of UST.

The Star Hotshots also beefed up their stacked guard rotation by landing Jio Jalalon of Arellano.

Filipino-Canadian shooter Matthew Wright was drafted by the Phoenix Fuel Masters, paving the way for a reunion with Ariel Vanguardia, his coach in the ASEAN Basketball League.

Former La Salle big man Arnold Van Opstal will have a precious chance of learning the PBA game under three-peat MVP June Mar Fajardo as the 6’8″ big man was selected by the San Miguel Beermen.

Alaska got big man Carl Bryan Cruz of FEU, GlobalPort chose shooter Von Pessumal of Ateneo, Mahindra selected Russel Escoto of FEU, and Meralco drafted Ed Daquioag of UST.

NLEX picked center Fonzo Gotladera of Ateneo, Rain or Shine took Mike Tolomia of FEU, and TNT selected Roger Pogoy of FEU.

The picks were announced according to the alphabetical order of the teams. Clubs had already finished selecting their respective recruits after an hours-long meeting by the PBA Board last week.
